As we bid adieu to 2023 and embrace the dawn of a new year, it's time to start planning our next RV adventure. If you're anything like our team, you're always on the hunt for fresh and exciting destinations to explore. So today we're uncovering some of America’s travel hotspots for RV enthusiasts looking for unique locations to add to their 2024 road trip itineraries. From hidden gems to bustling metropolises, there's something for everyone on this list. Dive in with us and discover the must-visit places of 2024!

Pacific Northwest

If you're a nature enthusiast craving awe-inspiring landscapes, America’s Pacific Northwest should be at the top of your 2024 travel bucket list. This pristine region that lies between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains along our western shoreline is home to volcanoes, majestic mountain ranges, crystal-clear lakes, and breathtaking coastal vistas that stretch over hundreds of miles. Cascadia, as this region is also known, includes areas of northern California, Oregon, Washington, and western Idaho for RVers to explore.

While you’ll want to be prepared for breathtaking vistas that will leave you in awe when visiting Cascadia, you’ll also want to be prepared for the real possibility of rain as this part of the country gets an average of seven feet of precipitation a year. Be sure your RV ventilation fans can operate in rain, like the Maxxfan Deluxe with the industry’s only built-in rain shield, so even in inclement weather you’ll have a comfortable RV interior.

Utah’s Mighty Five

With 13 NPS sites including 5 of our favorite national parks within its borders, Utah is the place to visit in 2024 for outdoor adventure. Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion (often referred to as Utah’s Mighty Five) all reside along a 370 mile stretch of Utah highway from Canyonlands National Park on the state’s eastern side to Zion National Park in the state’s southwest corner boasting spectacular desert landscapes and magnificent red-rock formations all along the way. Plus, this area features thousands of miles of hiking, biking, ATV, and horse trails.

While planning your Utah road trip be sure to start your trip prep with AC maintenance or any needed upgrades to your cooling and ventilation systems. This desert region in America’s west averages summer temperatures that regularly break 90°F, so to ensure a comfortable trip your AC should be in optimal condition. Complete any maintenance or repairs before the trip or opt to upgrade to a new AC for the latest in cooling technology.

The Gulf Coast

Though the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines are significantly larger, the 1,631 miles of Gulf Coast along Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas present some of the most intriguing destinations for 2024 travel. Whether you're seeking adrenaline-pumping water sports, exploring city landscapes, or simply lounging on sun-kissed shores, America’s Gulf Coast has it all. Some of our favorite stops on a Gulf Coast road trip include South Padre Island in southern Texas, the ever-vibrant city of New Orleans in Louisiana, the Mississippi Aquarium, the Gulf State Park in Alabama, and the beautiful Florida gulf beaches from the Flora-Bama boarder to Naples.

This area of the country also has some of the freshest seafood available in the nation. And while enjoying the cuisine at area restaurants is one delicious way to enjoy local flavors, you can also buy fresh seafood all along the gulf that can be brought home and prepared in your kitchen. Cooking in your RV not only brings the flavors of the region into your home, it’s also a great way to save money while traveling as eating out all the time becomes expensive. Suburban has an entire line of RV ranges, cooktops, griddles, and outdoor slide-out kitchens that let you cook on the road with ease.

Colorado

For those seeking the perfect balance between urban fun and outdoor adventures, the great state of Colorado offers both. Explore the rich culinary and art scene of Denver (Colorado’s capital city), visit one of 4 National Parks or 42 state parks, ski or hike (depending on the season) in the pristine Rocky Mountains, or swim in the world’s largest natural hot springs pool all within a few hours’ drive of each other. Colorado has a little something for everyone, which is why in 2024 we can’t wait to visit the Centennial State.

However, it's important to note one element when traveling in Colorado, and that’s altitude. Colorado’s lowest altitude is 3,317 feet above sea level with Denver sitting at 5,280 feet and its mountain peaks topping out at over 14,000 feet. Heating elements in RVs can be negatively affected by altitude, so for the best in heating solutions during your Colorado road trip make sure your heating unit is high altitude rated like the Aqua-Hot Gen1 rated up to 15,000 feet above sea level or the 125 hydronic heating system rated up to 16,000 feet to conquer Colorado in comfort.

Great Lakes

Five lakes, eight states, and over 4,530 miles of coastline on the U.S. side alone, the Great Lakes region boasts an incredible abundance of natural wonders waiting to be discovered. Take a leisurely stroll along the sandy beaches, hike through lush forests, or rent a kayak to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of these stunning locales. The Great Lakes offer a plethora of activities for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. For RVers, enjoy miles of coastal roadways some just feet from the shoreline as you explore the Great Lakes region.

Around the Great Lakes visitors will also run into a variety of weather conditions as the lakes themselves create unique weather patterns. Be sure your RV is ready for anything the lakes can throw at it by staying up with annual maintenance, seeing to repairs in a timely manner, performing a detailed pre-trip inspection, and reaching out to your local service center with any questions.

As we look ahead to 2024, it's time to start planning your next great RV adventure. From the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest to Florida’s jaw dropping Gulf coast, these travel destinations offer a wealth of experiences from coast to coast with countless memories waiting to be made. So, whether you're a nature lover, a culture enthusiast, or a city dweller seeking an escape, these hotspots are sure to satisfy your wanderlust cravings. Embrace the spirit of exploration and get ready to make 2024 your year of unforgettable road trips!
